Green Cards For Bulgaria and Romania

As you will be aware, Bulgaria and Romania became members of the European Union with effect from 01 January 2007. Many motor policy wordings may refer to cover being provided by the insurer within the European Union without the need for a Green Card.

This is not the case at the moment for Bulgaria and Romania .

Although UK insurers will have to provide at least the minimum third party cover as required by Law in Bulgaria and Romania, in practice a Green Card is still necessary for policyholders travelling to these countries.
